• Updates to Tag Spotlight for Splunk APM and RUM point users to potential root causes of incidents to shorten resolution times.
• Enhanced anomaly detection across AppDynamics infrastructure and browser/mobile RUM speed issue detection.

Expansions and Enhanced Controls For Enterprise Scalability

• Centralized RBAC in Splunk Cloud will alleviate administrative efforts and allow Splunk admins to centralize user management across Splunk by managing out-of-the-box Observability Cloud roles directly within the Splunk Cloud interface.
• New Metrics Usage Analytics in Splunk Observability Cloud will provide visibility to detailed metrics consumption, delivering the insights users need to better control usage and manage costs.
• New options for deploying self-managed AppDynamics, including self-hosting on AWS, Azure, ESXi, and KVM Hypervisor, give users greater flexibility and control.
• Log Observer Connect for Observability Cloud Access Control will allow Splunk Platform admins to restrict user access at a service-account level to ensure more data security and better access control for compliance.
• Observability Cloud region availability expanded to AWS London and AWS Frankfurt, providing regional customers access to a full-stack solution and more data and cost management flexibility as they extend their observability practice.

Open Source Enabled Data Management

65% of Observability leaders cite better data control as a main benefit of OpenTelemetry, but 44% say adopting OTel is “moderately” to “very” challenging, according to the 2024 State of Observability Report.  We’ve continued championing OpenTelemetry and enriched OpenTelemetry data to simplify onboarding and standardize data collection.

• Support for the latest OpenTelemetry semantic changes for Android 3.0 and Web in RUM in Observability Cloud helps engineers continue standardizing data collection on OpenTelemetry and maintain control of their telemetry.
• A beta program for OpenTelemetry ingestion for Self-Hosted AppDynamics will provide end-to-end visibility across agent and OTel-instrumented services.

Faster and More Flexible Alerting and Troubleshooting for Complex Cloud

Helping ITOps and engineering teams reduce their MTTD and MTTR remains a key innovation priority for Splunk. More proactive workflows and increased flexibility to inject more business context into SLOs deliver faster and more flexible alerting and troubleshooting so teams can detect and resolve issues quickly.

• Expanded SLO management functionality in Observability Cloud with custom metrics SLOs simplifies the experience for engineering teams to enhance analysis and proactively alerting on business metrics.
• More intuitive, flexible views and proactive workflows for Kubernetes in Observability Cloud will enable engineering teams to troubleshoot across their cloud-native environments faster.
