Win-Loss Technical Writer

Role Summary:

Are you passionate about crafting compelling narratives that highlight success and drive change? Splunk is seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Writer to join our rapidly growing Win-Loss Analysis program!
The Win-Loss Technical Writer will be responsible for creating compelling content that communicates results of and reasons behind Splunk’s key sales wins—including competitive replacements , defensive retentions and customer win-backs—to internal stakeholders via Win Stories and in collaboration with Customer Advocacy via public Case Studies. The Technical Writer will work closely with competitive intelligence, sales, sales engineering, marketing, strategy, product marketing and channel partners to create powerful narratives that highlight and reinforce Splunk’s flexible customer use cases and powerful technical product differentiation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create compelling content that communicates Splunk’s key wins internally and externally
  • Work closely with Competitive Intelligence and Customer Advocacy teams
  • Collaborate across sales, sales engineering, marketing, product marketing and channels
  • Develop a deep understanding of Splunk’s competitive value propositions and use cases
  • Plug closely into global sales wins to develop a rapid-response publication capability
  • Develop reciprocal trust-based relationships with Splunk sellers, SEs and channel sellers

Essential Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in persuasive technical writing, with strong written communication skills and a background in journalism, marketing communications, proposals or similar written disciplines.
  • Demonstrated persuasive written technical communication skills in the English language
  • Ability to weave compelling narratives tied to competitive differentiators and use cases
  • Dexterity to interpret sales reports and interview selling teams to derive key win factors
  • Assertiveness to push and challenge sellers and channel partners to reveal win rationales
  • Persistence and perseverance to dig, probe and navigate complex organizations remotely
  • Ability to work independently in a remote capacity on assigned and self-directed projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in narrative writing within a win-loss program at a technology company is desired but not required.
  • Prior experience with Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) software
  • Prior experience writing internal win stories or public case studies for software products
  • Prior experience interviewing sellers and channel sales partners for deal-winning insights
  • Multilingual English/Spanish with one or more additional European or Asian languages
