Splunk is here to build a safer and more resilient digital world. The world's leading enterprises use our unified security and observability platform to keep their digital systems secure and reliable. While customers love our technology, it's our people that make Splunk stand out as an amazing career destination and why we've won so many awards as a best place to work. If you become a Splunker, we want your whole, authentic self, what we call your "million data points". So bring your work experience, problem-solving skills and talent, of course, but also bring your joy, your passion and all the things that make you, you.

Role Summary

You will experience Splunking and what defines our culture while honing the skills which separate our development teams from others. As a member of the Research and Insights team you will have the opportunity to learn about building processes, practices and systems that empower a team of Researchers and their partners (Designers, Product Managers and Engineers) to do their best work.
This role is for anyone who loves to find problems to solve in how people work, collaborate and find information and to come up with better, simpler solutions that help us work smarter.
Maybe you're the kind of person who has thought "I could use this tool for something different" and then made it happen. Maybe you are the one who gets others organized to achieve common goals. Maybe you've observed a real world problem and created a smart system that addressed that issue in a way that's repeatable.

What you'll get to do

  • Learn about the exciting new field of Research Operations through direct mentoring, shadowing and helping out with a range of brand new initiatives that help put people at the center of technology. Example projects could include helping design a research library (one place where all Splunkers can find insightful information about our customers) or building a suite of templates to allow as many Splunkers as possible to talk to customers.
  • Be responsible for project from start to finish that supports to goals of the Research and Insights team and the Research Operations strategy with supervision.
  • Be mentored by Partner with UX Researchers, with Program Managers.

Must-have Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelors, Master's, or PhD in any field.
  • At least one semester/quarter remaining to complete after the internship.
  • Available to work 40 hours a week for 15 weeks.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

We’ve taken special care to separate the must-have qualifications from the nice-to-haves. “Nice-to-have” means just that: Nice. To. Have. So, don’t worry if you can’t check off every box. We’re not hiring a list of bullet points–we’re interested in the whole you.
  • We are especially interested in applications from folks from a community that has been systemically excluding from the tech sector (any major) or folks pursuing Library Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences or Arts.
  • Highly organized. You stay on top of what needs to get done.
  • Curious. You always want to know 'why?' and you are interested in what makes other people tick
  • Collaborative. You know you don't have all the answers and want to get things done together with others.
  • It helps if you have some understanding of what UX Research is and if you believe in the power of knowledge and science to help people make better decisions.
