Role Summary

Do you have a passion for educating people about digital resilience? We are looking for a dynamic and innovative Technical Instructor Intern to join our Splunk Education Delivery team. This team delivers impactful training courses virtually and in-person globally to Splunk customers and partners. You will join a team of experienced and collaborative instructors who will provide guidance and mentorship, as you begin your Splunk career.
In this role you will develop technical skills within Splunk's product line and polish your ability to communicate highly technical information to support Splunk customers during training courses. You will learn Splunk's various products by attending courses, with a goal to achieve a Splunk certification by the end of the internship. You will also interact with other Education teams like Course Development and Operations to fully understand the Education business. You will become proficient in the various training delivery systems and ultimately, you will assist to support learners in live virtual classes during lecture and with labs.

What you'll get to do

  • Cultivate Splunk product skills by attending training and constantly tinkering with the software.
  • Identify an area that interests you - Security, ITOps, Observability etc.
  • Prepare for and achieve Splunk certification.
  • Shadow instructors while working towards delivering sections of the course on your own.
  • Assist students in class, particularly with lab-related inquiries or questions during lecture.
  • Anticipate and resolve common student problems.
  • Learn technical demonstration and training skills to become an engaging and credible speaker, by performing teach-back sessions with team members and implementing their feedback in successive practices.
  • Provide input on how to improve course materials and delivery.
  • Contribute to projects as needed, and be able to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks with and without supervision.
  • Develop a broad understanding of Splunk Education's business through team and project meetings, 1:1s, and exploring our robust digital resources

Must-have Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Programming, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Data Science or related field, and strong record of academic achievement
  • At least one semester/quarter remaining to complete after the internship
  • Available to work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks

Nice-to-have Qualifications

We’ve taken special care to separate the must-have qualifications from the nice-to-haves. “Nice-to-have” means just that: Nice. To. Have. So, don’t worry if you can’t check off every box. We’re not hiring a list of bullet points–we’re interested in the whole you.
  • Curiosity and passion for digital resilience and Splunk products
  • Comfortable delivering technical presentations and software demonstrations
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with customers, management, team members, and other departments.
  • Knowledge of current Unix/Linux shell, Linux administration, command-line, vi preferred.
  • Technical and troubleshooting skills in at least one software application or technology preferred.
Our Splunktern Program allows incoming interns the flexibility to choose from three start dates, currently anticipated to be:
  • Monday, May 19, 2025 - Friday, August 8, 2025
  • Monday, June 2, 2025 - Friday, August 22, 2025
  • Monday, June 16, 2025 - Friday, September 5, 2025

Note:

Base Pay is based on a candidate completing 3 years of university or the academic equivalent

Base Pay

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay: $45 per hour

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay: $41 per hour

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay: $36 per hour

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills, year in school and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for benefits.
