Splunk is currently seeking a highly motivated, outcome focussed individual to join our pre-sales Solutions Engineering team as a Senior Solutions Engineer (m/f/d) within the German Public Sector team. As a Splunk Solutions Engineer, you’ll be a technical sales resource for the German Public Sector sales team who support our clients across the range of Central and Local Government, Police, Education and more. You will be the authority both in terms of the technical aspects of our solutions and how they integrate within our clients' workflow and tooling.
Splunk’s technical sellers seek to unify, advance, and expand the value of the Splunk portfolio by providing deep technical and domain expertise to introduce and operationalize Security and Observability use-cases and solutions. The Sales Engineers are Splunk’s customer-facing technical account leader. Their purpose is to partner with customers and Splunk teams to ensure long-term success and growth within Splunk’s customer base. Sales Engineers are responsible for the breadth of technical engagement within their assigned customers across products, domains, and use cases.
This role requires a self-motivated continuous learner that has a deep desire to solve a wide variety of security and observability problems. Customer interactions will cover a wide range of engagements. Some examples include aligning customer use-cases to Splunk capabilities, providing guidance to customers on solutions that meet their business objectives, presenting to senior customer staff, and partnering with Solution Architects to position and operationalize advanced use-cases and capabilities in your accounts.
A successful Solutions Engineer (m/f/d) will not only maintain a technical understanding of Splunk solutions, but also build cross-functional relationships with Solution Architects and Professional Service account team members to build scale and impact Splunk’s continued growth.
What You'll Do/Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain deep expertise of Splunk’s portfolio, use-cases, and its alignment to customer challenges and objectives
- Own Splunk’s portfolio, holistic technical engagement, and customer experience in your accounts
- Drive deeper and broader penetration of Splunk’s products within your accounts
- Operationalize Splunk’s foundational solutions comprised of hybrid/cloud, security, and observability in the customer’s environment
- Build and maintain relationships with key customer personas
- Assemble and lead relevant Splunk technical resources as required to ensure optimal customer outcomes
- Evangelize Splunk’s use-cases at theater/regional industry events and with customers and partners in your region
Minimum Qualifications for the role:
- 5+ years related experience in selling and delivering enterprise software solutions for cloud, on-premise and hybrid environments
- 5+ years related experience working in or recommending SaaS delivery model
- 5+ years relevant experience in cyber security and/or observability is highly desired
- Ability to create, lead and evolve a customer technical account strategy, engaging an extended ecosystem of supporting resources to deliver the customer’s expected business outcomes
- Ability to establish trusted technical advisor status with your customers
- Familiarity with programming and scripting (e.g. Python, Javascript, etc.)
- Relevant software proven experience in the following: IT Operations/Solutions, enterprise or infrastructure management, application development and management, DevOps, business applications, and/or analytics.
- Minimum 3 years practical experience with public cloud infrastructure and understanding of cloud economics highly desirable (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
- Minimum 3 years experience of current infrastructure and application monitoring solutions in the industry, experience in the SIEM and Observability space is a must.
- Experience in the security space like EDR, XDR, SOC, SOAR, ITOps is a plus
- Experience in working with German Public Sector customers is a plus
Preferred Qualifications for the role:
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively lead others in a highly-collaborative team environment
- Excellent presentation skills and an expert in using data to articulate a story or issue in a Tell-Show-Tell format
- Excellent time management skills and ability to adapt to evolving priorities, with a dedication to championing the customer and your team
- Ability to be organized and analytical, and will be able to eliminate sales obstacles using creative and adaptive approaches
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately in meetings, phone calls, emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports, both externally with customers and internally
- Practical experience with the Splunk platform or competing solutions is a plus
- Available to travel and to visit prospects and customers across Germany
- Fluent in English & German, both written & spoken

OTE Range
For sales roles starting salaries are expressed as On Target Earnings or OTE (OTE = base + on-target incentives in the form of sales commission plans).

On Target Earnings: EUR 112,000.00 - 154,000.00 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the On Target Earnings (OTE) range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the OTE will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate.
