Splunk is looking for a highly technical and design savvy Senior Product Manager to drive efforts on event processing of time-series data and efficiently store the processed data. The Indexing and Storage team, part of our Data Platform division, plays a meaningful role in the Splunk platform. This team is responsible for the majority of the processing and storing of data that comes into Splunk which is an integral part of our core value to customers. As the Product Manager of this team, you will define the critical features and roadmap for bringing high-scale, high-performance data processing to Splunk customers.
You will use your understanding of the data platforms, scalability and high availability to synthesize ideas that improve Splunk's Enterprise and Cloud offerings. This role presents an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience in building end-to-end data platform cloud services contributing towards Splunk’s industry-leading data platform and delivering high impact customer & business outcomes
You will merge attention to technical detail with the ability to understand and align to business imperatives while working hand-in-glove with cross-functional execution teams to drive customer insights and inputs directly into the development process.

What You'll Get To Do:

As with any fast-growing company, day-to-day responsibilities will span the entire product delivery pipeline and include deep interaction with customers, sales, and engineering.
  • Lead the whole product experience for your area.
  • Engage with customers, develop insights into what is possible, and uncover unarticulated needs to ensure customer success.
  • Build product roadmaps based on customers' needs, including market and technology forces.
  • Define product specifications, user stories, mockups, and acceptance criteria independently and in collaboration with engineering.
  • Interact and collaborate with Support, NOC, and field teams to understand customer issues and drive business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, SRE, and release teams to plan, drive and execute product release cycles.
  • Collaborate with product marketing to support the creation of content

Must-have Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in product management
  • Experience as a Product Manager in building core platform technology for unstructured, structured, and semi-structured data processing and storage
  • Familiarity with cloud services, batch/stream data processing, data storage formats, high availability, scalability and performance.
  • Strong sense of product ownership & customer empathy to care deeply about customer problems and the user experience.
  • Analytical thinking skills and a data-informed approach to decision-making.
  • Collaborative, with strong communication skills, including the ability to translate sophisticated technical products and features into simple concepts and presentations

Desired Skills:

  • Experience building data platform products with a focus on data processing, cloud storage, high availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Strong bias for action, creative thinking, innovation, and data-informed product decision-making.
  • Operate and think in terms of the business outcome, end-user experience, the underlying technology stack to drive those experiences and outcomes
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure and agile software development
  • Passion for understanding end-to-end business workflows and building enterprise products with intuitive user experience.

Education:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or related major

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $159,200.00 - 218,900.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $143,280.00 - 197,010.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $127,360.00 - 175,120.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
