Senior Director of Engineering – Security Products

We're looking for a visionary engineering leader to build and scale our India Development Center, driving core product development for Splunk’s Security Platform Services — the foundation powering industry-leading solutions such as Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response, and Threat Detection, Investigation, and Response across both cloud and on-premises environments. 
 
About the Role: 
We are seeking a Senior Director Engineering of Security platform to lead development teams based in India, focused on delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance capabilities that support Splunk’s security product portfolio. The role requires deep experience in building cloud-native platforms, along with a strong understanding of enterprise software that must operate reliably in customer-managed, on-premises deployments. 
 
This leader will collaborate with global product and engineering peers to shape product strategy, technical architecture, and roadmap execution across hybrid environments. The ideal candidate combines strong product engineering leadership with a customer-centric mindset and a passion for innovation. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization in India, focusing on hiring top-tier talent and fostering a strong culture of technical excellence, innovation, and inclusion.
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle — from concept and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support — ensuring scalability, performance, and security across deployment models.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, UX, architecture, and global engineering teams to align on roadmaps, priorities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Translate business and product goals into an executable engineering strategy supported by sound architectural decisions and agile delivery practices.
  • Set and uphold high standards for code quality, design best practices, and technical documentation across the engineering teams.
  • Drive the development of cloud-native, distributed systems that deliver reliable and high-performance experiences, while also supporting customers running software in their own data centers.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous innovation and improvement through experimentation, retrospectives, learning programs, and a growth mindset.
  • Coach and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, supporting their growth and building strong succession pipelines.
  • Keep customer experience and usability at the center of engineering efforts, ensuring the platform enables fast, intuitive, and secure workflows for security professionals.
  • Define and monitor key engineering KPIs and delivery metrics, using data to drive continuous improvement, predictability, and accountability in execution.
 
Qualifications & Experience: 
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience with a strong focus on product development.
  • Proven success in leading teams that deliver software for both cloud-native (SaaS) and on-premises deployment models.
  • Strong technical foundation in backend architecture, distributed systems, and platform engineering.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead globally distributed teams and align development with strategic business goals.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
 
Preferred
  • Prior experience developing security products such as Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response, Threat Detection, Investigation, and Response, or Security Information and Event Management solutions.
  • Experience establishing or scaling engineering centers in India or similar regions.
  • Familiarity with secure software development practices and compliance requirements in security-focused environments.
  • Passion for building innovative tools that empower security teams and make a meaningful impact on global cybersecurity.
