Role Summary

As a Senior CDP Data Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including Customer Data Platform (CDP) schema design, data mapping and ingestion, data analysis, and addressing requests as part of the sprint cycle. You will collaborate with the scrum master, marketing teams, and architects to plan and complete sprints effectively. You will have extensive experience with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), ETL processes, schema design, and data loading to support the team’s day-to-day activities.

Splunk’s Growth Engineering team is a dynamic and dedicated group, known for being best-in-class. This team plays a meaningful role in managing and implementing a range of marketing use cases, applying the Customer Data Platform (CDP) as a centralized profile store and segmentation engine to support Splunk’s marketing initiatives.

What you'll get to do

  • Develop Adobe Experience Data Models (XDM) in JSON based on approved data models for all required data loading files.
  • Use Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) to design and implement data models, applying advanced data modeling techniques.
  • Leverage the AEP UI and Postman to automate customer schema data lake and profile design setups within sandbox environments.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive user documentation, including Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD), for review and sign-off with the architecture team.
  • Coordinate data pipelines from various sources, ensuring smooth data flow into the CDP data lake and updating profile stores.
  • Must have excellent analytic skills associated with working on structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Manipulate a variety of data sources and ensuring data quality.
  • Contribute to the development of data governance policies to align with privacy and legal requirements.
  • Work within an agile environment, focusing on rapid development and prototyping.
  • Assist in refining processes, including the creation and updating of customer-facing materials and templates.
  • Support Proof of Concepts (POCs), project estimation, and participate in performance testing and tuning for large datasets.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years as a data engineer, with at least 2 years of experience working with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) or a similar data platform.
  • Strong expertise in data strategy, data quality, and data governance.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or other scripting languages, as well as expertise in SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Extensive experience with data modeling and architecture, with excellent SQL skills.
  • Strong understanding of marketing technology tools such as email/marketing automation, personalization, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience with loading and managing data within a Customer Data Platform (CDP) from different data sources into a data lake.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure and experience with APIs using tools such as Postman.
  • History of collaborating effectively with senior technical teams and leadership.
  • Experience working within agile development frameworks.
  • Nice to have experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and personalization tools like Adobe Target.

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience with or certification in Adobe CDP.
  • Cloud platform certification (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Involvement in 1-2 projects using Adobe Experience Platform (Adobe CDP).

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $174,800.00 - 240,350.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $157,320.00 - 216,315.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $139,840.00 - 192,280.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
