The Splunk Observability Cloud provides full-fidelity monitoring and troubleshooting across infrastructure, applications, and user interfaces, in real-time and at any scale, to help our customers keep their services reliable, innovate faster, and deliver great customer experiences. Infrastructure Software Engineers at Splunk are cloud-native systems engineers who use infrastructure-as-code, microservices, automation, and efficient design to build, operate, and scale our products.
 
Role:
Be part of a team whose mission is to build turnkey Infrastructure Monitoring solutions for the Observability platform customers. You will be responsible for building key “out of the box content” for our customers, viz. Dashboards, Navigators, Alerts and Detectors. These products enable our customers faster time to value and in-turn grow our business. You will be responsible to maintain and provision the base infrastructure including cloud compute platforms, managed services, Kubernetes, and required tooling. You are passionate about automation, infrastructure-as-code, microservices, and getting rid of tedious, manual tasks.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Be a team leader by owning complete outcomes and running processes
  • Extend and expand the capabilities of the Infrastructure Monitoring platform through code, complex configuration, and reusable customization
  • Collaborate with product management, sales, designers, and other customer facing team members understand the solutions our customers need and bring them to life
  • Work with the team responsible for getting Infrastructure Monitoring data in to allow you to build out pre-configured Detectors, Charts, Dashboards, Navigators, and other visual representations of that data
  • Setup test data sources from various infrastructure services to feed into the testing, and release of the out of the box content
  • Research and Adopting new cloud-native frameworks and technologies, or existing ones as these evolve in terms of usage to recommend out-of-the-box content / visualization as turnkey solutions
  • Developing code for tools and automation to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual tasks and reduce human error
  • Automating cloud provider infrastructure via Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm
 
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of total experience, with at least 3+ years of strong hands-on experience deploying, managing, and monitoring large-scale Kubernetes clusters in the public cloud
  • Experience working closely with product management on customer facing solutions
  • Experience installing and maintaining infrastructure services in cloud and non-cloud environments
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or similar languages for scripting automation and system management
  • Experience with AWS (must), GCP, and Azure cloud service providers
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and/or Helm.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting using Python and/or bash scripting.
  • Understanding and implementation of CI/CD practices using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
  • Ability to define infrastructure configurations using code for consistency and automation
  • Excellent problem-solving, triaging, and debugging skills in large-scale distributed systems
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing environments is critical
  • Exposure to monitoring tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, etc. in order to build observability for large-scale microservice deployments is a BIG plus.
  • Proven skills to effectively work across teams and functions to influence the design, operations, and deployment of highly available software.
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a master’s degree in CS/Engineering, or equivalent practical working experience
