The Splunk Observability Cloud provides full-fidelity monitoring and fixing across infrastructure, applications, and user interfaces, in real-time and at any scale, to help our customers keep their services reliable, innovate faster, and deliver great customer experiences. Infrastructure Software Engineers at Splunk are cloud-native systems engineers who use infrastructure-as-code, microservices, automation, and efficient design to build, operate, and scale our products
Role and Responsibilities:
As an AppDynamics Build Engineer (DevOps), you will be responsible for expanding and supporting the build services we provide to Splunk/AppDynamics. This role will focus on supporting our customers, ensuring uptime and stability on our services, standing up and supporting the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for the build system, and adhering to the best practices and tenants set forth by the Build and Release team. A focus expertise for this role will be someone with a wide knowledge of Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes (k8s), Ansible, AWS Services, Git, Linux, and scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc).
Knowledge of TeamCity is recommended. Our ideal candidate is an individual who’s driven by technology and enjoys automation and problem solving. We work hard, we like to challenge the status quo, and we enjoy having fun!
Areas of Responsibility:
  • Serve as part of a cross functional Agile team as a build systems expert
  • Stand up new services, and make changes to existing using the latest IaC tools available.
  • Troubleshoot performance and stability issues using a wide variety of tools.
  • Handle incoming support requests and Engineering customer issues throughout the day.
  • Identify and develop enhancements that lead to improved developer productivity.
  • Debugging root cause of build failures.
  • Follow change management processes during implementations
  • Work with key Business stakeholders to understand their business requirements, recommend potential solutions, and secure resources to deliver
  • Coordinate with Security team to ensure best practices are employed in environments
  • Seek opportunities to streamline standard operating procedures through automation
Job Requirements:
  • 8+ yrs of relevant experience
  • Experience in a cloud focused environment
  • Proficiency in at least 2 major scripting languages (shell, python, PHP, Perl, Ruby).
  • Candidates must have high experience in the following:
    • AWS major services
    • Linux
    • Scripting
    • Kubernetes
    • Helm
    • Docker
    • Terraform
    • Ansible
    • Git
  • Experience with the following technologies is a plus:
    • Windows
    • Atlassian
    • TeamCity
    • Gradle
    • Java
    • Nexus
    • Artifactory
    • Sonar
  • “Can do” attitude and strong customer service and track record on delivering quality results
  • Ability to provide reliable technical support and guidance on complex issues in a high velocity, dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to internal customers and upper management
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple projects simultaneous
