Principal Product Specialist – SOAR

Location: Remote| Department: Splunk Security Product Management | Job Type: Full-Time

Role Overview

As a Principal Product Specialist, you will serve as a key technical and strategic expert for Splunk Security Products. You will work closely with customers, field teams, and product managers to drive adoption, shape product strategy, and ensure customer success. Your deep technical knowledge, ability to translate complex security challenges into actionable solutions, and passion for cybersecurity will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Product Adoption & Business Impact:
    • Engage with customers and field teams to accelerate adoption of Splunk SOAR. Your efforts should directly contribute to increased customer retention and higher renewal rates for the Splunk Security business by ensuring customers realize maximum value from their investment.
    • Additionally, enhance the framework for tracking the usage of new features across Splunk Security products, mapping usage to end-to-end workflows. This will provide clear insights into how customers are engaging with new capabilities.
    • Using this data, collaborate with product managers to focus on areas of opportunity and prioritize features that have the most impact on customer success.
  • Customer Engagement & Product Demonstrations:
    • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them maximize value from Splunk security solutions.
    • Deliver compelling, hands-on product demonstrations showcasing the entire end-to-end Splunk Security portfolio, including Splunk SOAR, Splunk Attack Analyzer, and Splunk Enterprise Security.
    • Support high stakes proof-of-concept (PoC) engagements, helping customers validate Splunk Security solutions in their own environments.
  • Product Advocacy:
    • Gather feedback from customers and field teams to influence product roadmap and feature development.
    • Identify creative and intuitive interim solutions to address critical customer challenges while advocating for native, long-term product enhancements with Product Management.
    • Work closely with Engineering and Product teams to bridge the gap between customer needs and product capabilities, ensuring that customer pain points are effectively addressed in future releases.
  • Field Enablement:
    • Act as an overlay to help other teams create compelling content and assets that drive product adoption.
    • Work closely with the competitive intelligence team to keep content up to date with the latest market trends, competitor positioning, and evolving security challenges.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to refine messaging, improve user experience, and optimize product-market fit.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent Splunk at industry events, conferences, and webinars to showcase the power of Splunk Security.
What We’re Looking For
  • In-Depth Expertise in Splunk SOAR & Security Automation(Required): Hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing Splunk SOAR automation playbooks for complex security use cases is essential.
  • Strong Understanding of Security Operations & Incident Response(Required): Expertise in SOAR, SIEM, threat intelligence, SOC workflows, and a deep understanding of incident response. Ability to navigate and improve response strategies to effectively address security incidents.
  • Strong Understanding of the Cybersecurity Product Ecosystem: In-depth knowledge of various cybersecurity solutions such as network security, EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), and IT operations (ITOps) vendors, with the ability to integrate these tools into security workflows to enhance overall security posture.
  • Advanced Scripting & Automation Skills (Required): Proficiency in Python, APIs, and automation frameworks to build and optimize security playbooks, driving automation and enhancing security processes.
  • Customer-Facing Experience (Required): Prior experience working directly with Splunk customers, driving success in high-stakes security deals, and influencing purchasing decisions to ensure customers achieve their desired outcomes.
  • Strong Communication Skills (Required): Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear business value and effectively influence stakeholders at all levels.
Experience in Product Management, Pre-Sales, or Technical Advocacy: Proven track record in a customer-facing technical role within the cybersecurity field, with experience influencing product direction and supporting customers through their security journey.

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $181,200.00 - 249,150.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $163,080.00 - 224,235.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $144,960.00 - 199,320.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
