Observability Solutions Architect Director

Role Summary

Splunk seeks a Director of Observability Solutions Architects to lead pre-sales efforts in the Americas. This 2nd line leadership role will oversee revenue targets, customer experience, and lead a top-tier technical team. The ideal candidate will collaborate across Splunk's cross functional teams and partners. They will drive product direction, nurture a collaborative SA community and foster durable customer relationships. Strong leadership, a growth mindset, and a customer-first approach are essential.

What you'll get to do

  • Lead a team of 50+ Solutions Architects with first line Managers who oversee our Solutions Architects for Observability in the Americas. 
  • Engage directly with Solutions Engineering and Sales Leadership to strategize on their opportunities and engage in pre-sales and solution adoption activities for Splunk’s Observability product set.
  • Work closely with the cross functional leaders and teams to develop strategic and technical territory and account plans, along with technical tools/programs to support/measure and mobilize sales campaigns and initiatives to drive growth.
  • As a team leader, ensure we are taking the necessary actions to attract and retain top talent, further develop a rich and diverse workforce, and manage performance at all levels.
  • Ensure that your team is enabled to architect, influence and sell cross portfolio Splunk product solutions aligned to driving customer business outcomes across various vertical markets.
  • Work collaboratively with all cross functional teams to ensure the right strategies, products and services succeed in the market.
  • Interact with customers, prospects and industry groups to understand their business challenges and desired outcomes.
  • Develop a close working relationship with Customer Success, Professional Services and Education to ensure alignment between pre and post sales activities.

Must-have Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Pre-Sales Solutions Architect leadership experience, 3+ years at 2nd level leadership of first-line Managers
  • Experience working in the Observability, DevOps and APM market
  • Strong experience and ability to recognize and lead the business strategy in the market
  • Proven track record of working and leading with cross functional leaders including Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Customer Success, Strategist and Advisor.
  • Experience selling and working with cloud-based and hybrid solutions
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure is preferred, and Solution Architect and Industry certifications are a bonus
  • Technically curious, and able to articulate the value that technology brings to solving customer business outcomes
  • Proven executive communication skills – written and oral. Ability to communicate and lead complex ideas cross functionally across all levels both internally and externally
  • Ability to lead diverse groups of people, able to challenge and develop the team to exceed their goals both personally and professionally
  • Strong ability to inspire others and motivate them to act with a sense of urgency and empowerment

Note:

OTE Pay Ranges

For sales roles the ranges are expressed as On Target Earning or OTE (OTE = base + incentives in the form of sales incentive plans).

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

On Target Earnings: $268,000.00 - 368,500.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), New York (excludes NYC Metro Area), and all other states.

On Target Earnings: $256,000.00 - 352,000.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the On Target Earnings (OTE) range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the OTE pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to OTE, this role may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
