Manager, Executive Communications - Products and Technology

Role Summary

The Splunk Communications Team spans public relations, social media and influencers, social impact, executive, and employee communications. We work together seamlessly to develop and implement Splunk’s messaging in a consistent and impactful manner. Splunk is seeking a hard-working and seasoned communications professional to help us communicate externally and internally the activities and accomplishments of our Products and Technology organization, which includes our Security, Platform, Observability business units. Specifically, this job is an individual contributor that will report to the Director of Executive Communications for the broader Products and Technology organization, and will provide the communications support needed for the executives who lead the business units within the organization. It means being a trusted counselor to these individuals and crafting the kind of relationship where they know they can count on you to put them in the best possible position to be successful at communicating their information.
 
The person in this role should be comfortable being the center of the bicycle spoke for facilitating information among numerous internal partners and making sure everyone agrees with regards to various activities and initiatives. It requires a cool head, an engaging personality, a willingness to jump in and help no matter what, and a tremendous sense of dedication for helping others do their job better. It also helps to inherently enjoy communicating and telling the story behind the innovation and development of technology and products in the cyber security space. As such, this job is a combination of executive communications, public relations, social media management, and internal and employee communications.

What you'll get to do

  • This person will work with the internal and external communications teams to lead any number of different communication projects at the same time. This includes speaking events, development of internal company-wide announcements, running town hall meetings, blogs, video recordings and internal company instant message platforms.
  • Your communications efforts will focus on a variety of external and internal audiences on a global basis at any given time such as employees (including sales, marketing, engineering and product development), customers, partners, media, and industry analysts.
  • Travel to provide communications support to executives on-site on a global basis.
  • Be the go-to source of information related to the Products and Technology organization and provide mentorship for the communications needs of company partners about messaging, executives, and products.
  • Help develop and implement thought leadership content that maintains message consistency with Splunk’s corporate positioning priorities to help establish Products and Technology leaders are credible industry spokespeople and business leaders.
  • Assist with managing the daily communications agendas, ensuring a complete understanding of current priorities and driving the quality and timeliness of deliverables and activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience developing and implementing communications plans and content supporting executives within a global organization for external and internal communications, involving public relations, executive communications, sales communications, and social media.
  • Ability to accommodate last minute requests and adapt to constantly evolving conditions for a given project while collaborating with a diverse set of partners and teams to drive desired outcomes.
  • Proven track record to think strategically and drive execution across multiple communication fields and channels.
  • Strong experience in coordinating multiple activities at the same time..
  • Experience in large-scale, hyper-growth and SaaS companies preferred
  • Detailed written, verbal and storytelling skills.
  • Works calmly with discretion and maintains good judgment in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational and program management skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Cyber security background is a plus.

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $132,000.00 - 181,500.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $118,800.00 - 163,350.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $105,600.00 - 145,200.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
