Role Overview:
The Field CTO role is crucial for expanding Splunk's strategic customer base. This position will simplify complex technologies, promote cross-functional solutions, and identify strategic partnerships. The Field CTO will engage with C-level executives, managers, pre-sales teams, and engineers to advance Splunk's solutions. They'll also provide executive sponsorship for key customer accounts, acting as a trusted advisor and recognized expert.

 

What you'll get to do

  • Engage, build relationships, and influence senior executives within strategic customer accounts to understand their objectives.
  • Conduct conversations with C-level executives, seamlessly transitioning to technical discussions about Enterprise Security and IT Operations to shape future solution vision.
  • Attend Executive Briefing Center meetings, serving as a well-rounded Subject Matter Authority (SME) with the technical depth to confidently present to diverse customers and teams of all sizes.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams, providing insights and feedback to align priorities with customer vision and benefit both customers and Splunk.
  • Support qualified and strategic sales opportunities by working with account teams and senior sales leadership, participating in internal meetings, customer calls, and face-to-face customer meetings.
  • Grasp and articulate the value proposition of strategic and tactical concepts for sophisticated customer requirements.
  • Actively participate in internal discussions throughout the sales journey to positively influence key buyers and personas.
  • Establish thought leadership within Splunk, in customer meetings, and public settings by demonstrating how Splunk's capabilities help customers overcome their top business challenges.
  • Monitor groundbreaking industry movements and directions to help shape customer organization priorities.
  • Regularly champion solutions as an inspiring leader with customers, at industry conferences, trade shows, and with partners (e.g., blogging, authoring, speaking at industry events, authoring content, participating in customer advisory boards, and executive education).
  • Continuously enhance job-related knowledge and skills through formal education, self-study, and independent work.

Must-have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and MBA or equivalent work experience
  • 15 years of experience in leadership roles delivering strategic technology programs
  • 10+ years of experience explaining technical concepts to customers
  • 10+ years of experience with Splunk solutions or equivalent industry solutions
  • Recent industry experience and deep technical background in technology infrastructure, cloud and specifically data management programs
  • Deep knowledge of cloud economics and data-tiering strategies
  • Experience selling into large customer environments
  • Prior architect and engineering practitioner expertise with on-premise and cloud-based Enterprise Security, IT Operations, and Observability capabilities
  • Travel up to 50%

Note:

OTE Pay Ranges

For sales roles the ranges are expressed as On Target Earning or OTE (OTE = base + incentives in the form of sales incentive plans).

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

On Target Earnings: $268,000.00 - 368,500.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), New York (excludes NYC Metro Area), and all other states.

On Target Earnings: $256,000.00 - 352,000.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the On Target Earnings (OTE) range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the OTE pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to OTE, this role may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
