Role:
As the Director of Engineering in the Lakehouse team, you will be responsible for modernizing the Splunk Platform to address evolving customer needs through delivering on cross-team big bets that ultimately increase digital resiliency. You will develop the organization and culture to support this mission through leadership by example, delivering on key innovations to our query platform, strategic collaboration across teams and functions, and delivering customers outcomes.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this role include:
- Establish strategic direction and develop roadmaps for the engineering team to drive implementation of new query capabilities to extend Splunk’s ability to search and analyze data wherever it resides
- Develop a deep understanding of the business and products to influence technical solutions by quickly assessing and mitigating risks
- Partner with product owners and other key collaborators to influence the product vision with a flexible engineering plan, supporting learning through iteration.
- Drive planning and execution of integrating sophisticated technical innovation into Splunk technology stack.
- Identify and develop experiments that will guide future efforts in evolving our federated analytics capabilities.
- Develop team structures with clear responsibility and accountability for progress, for learning, for communicating, and meeting business objectives.
- Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with teams to find solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members to ensure the continuous development of their technical and professional skills.
- Working across geographies to drive our global strategy to support our customers worldwide.
Requirements:
The successful candidates should have this knowledge, skills and abilities:
- In-depth knowledge and consistent track record in large scale data processing technology, including indexing, query optimization and processing, delivering valuable outcomes using data.
- Experience with leading and managing software engineering teams across distributed systems and performance.
- Experience with working as one team regardless of organizational or functional boundaries.
- Experience with setting and driving innovation strategies at both technical and organizational levels to drive business objectives.
- Experience with solving sophisticated real-world problems using advanced technology to deliver compelling product experiences.
- Familiarity with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Base Pay Range
SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
Base Pay Range: $242,400.00 - 333,300.00 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts
Base Pay Range: $218,160.00 - 299,970.00 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
Base Pay Range: $193,920.00 - 266,640.00 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
