FAQ

First, candidates apply to an open internship. Next, the recruiter and hiring manager review applicant qualifications and decide which candidates will move to an interview round. Finally, selected candidates move through the interview process and the recruiter extends an offer to the final candidate.

The recruiter will share more about what to expect when you are invited to an interview, because the process varies by position. For example, engineering roles typically consist of a behavioral interview and a technical interview (such as a coding assessment) while other roles may include behavioral interviews and a writing assessment.

Projects will vary based on the role, team and an individual Splunktern’s skills and interests. Our interns gain real-world, hands-on experience by working on different go-to-market products which directly support our customers. We do not differentiate intern projects from our wider Splunker projects — you have a seat at the table from your very first day.

We have opportunities available across all of our organizations. Check out our careers page to learn more about the different career paths you can embark on as a Splunker.

Splunk’s hiring decisions are based on skills and qualifications. Here are other top things you can do to improve your chances, according to University Recruiters at Splunk:

  • Network! Attend a recruiting event, make connections on LinkedIn or reach out to an alum from your school who is currently a Splunker.
  • Be well-rounded. Your grades are important (and your coursework takes priority) but make sure you also get involved in clubs and organizations, or pick up side projects that reflect your interests.
  • Most importantly, keep in mind that you need to find balance. Make sure whatever you sign up for is meaningful and impactful. For example, don’t just sign up for a club and not attend the meetings. Make sure you’re actively involved.

Our diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging strategy is built on three key pillars: growing a diverse workforce, nurturing our culture of belonging in the workplace and driving positive change in the marketplace for Splunkers, customers and partners. Click here to learn more.
