“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems,” writes James Clear in Atomic Habits. This idea resonates deeply with me because, throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand how small, consistent habits can lead to big, meaningful progress. Whether it was seeing the progress in my swimming ability or watching learners grow through Splunk’s training programs, the power of building habits is really undeniable.
Today, in my role leading Splunk Global Education, I see this truth play out every day. Splunk learners who commit to building their skills and earning certifications are laying the groundwork for incredible career success, as highlighted in our annual Splunk Career Impact Report. It’s a powerful testament to the value of continuous learning, and it’s one I’m thrilled to share with you.
The 2024 Splunk Career Impact Report is made possible through the candid feedback from our passionate, diverse Splunk user community. Compiled through a survey of almost 500 Splunk practitioners from across the globe, this report showcases insights from professionals of all backgrounds—from tech novices to seasoned leaders. Conducted by the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), this research captures the voices of Splunk users working in industries as varied as technology, manufacturing, finance, and more. What makes this report so exciting is how it highlights the undeniable connection between Splunk education, certification, and career success.
The report reveals an encouraging shift in the tech sector: layoffs are declining and inflation is stabilizing. This recovery means one thing—opportunity. Along with this shift, more proficient Splunk users are thriving. In fact, many are reporting significant year-over-year career advancements and increases in compensation. Splunk users have seen their compensation rise by 14% on average, and more are receiving promotions and merit-based raises. What stands out to me is the doubling of promotions compared to the previous year, indicating that Splunk skills are opening doors to leadership opportunities and increased responsibility.
Now, let’s talk about Splunk Certifications. One of the highlights of the report is the undeniable impact of getting Splunk Certified and what that validation means. Our certified users are not just earning higher salaries, but are also feeling more secure and confident in their careers. For younger professionals, in particular, Splunk Certification has led to salary premiums as high as 52% over their non-certified peers. This statistic underscores a crucial truth: when you put in the effort to master your craft — and can show proof of that mastery — the market rewards you.
While salary increases are a strong indicator of success, there’s more to the story. Many respondents highlighted the invaluable role that Splunk Education plays in their journey. From hands-on labs, to self-paced courses, to community-supported knowledge sharing, our resources are built to foster deep understanding and use case application of Splunk. It’s heartening to see more professionals tapping into these opportunities, not just for their financial gain but so they can feel empowered as better problem solvers, data analysts, and team players.
As someone who made a bold swerve from a medical career to explore my passion for education, I’ve witnessed the rewards of embracing lifelong learning. I’ve seen firsthand how equipping people with the right tools and knowledge can propel them to new heights – both financially and psychologically. The 2024 Splunk Career Impact Report is more than a collection of statistics; it’s a celebration of our users who have invested in themselves and, in turn, have reaped the rewards.
