Splunk has a lot of self-help knowledge sites. We want to make sure you have the information to get your job done, so we keep writing and creating and recording and sharing — but we recognize that the distinction between our sites is not always clear to a lot of you. (And besides, who wants to visit ten different sites to find the answer to a question?) While I've also been told that Google is quite capable of searching across all our sites, sometimes search engines can lead you to links on less reputable sites.
So the amazing internal ITS Search Platform team at Splunk has partnered with all of us content owners and built a custom federated search experience to help us help you better. This experience, now available on Splunk Lantern, has all these great features: predictive search suggestions, last updated date information, filters for product and publication date, and most importantly, the ability to search across not one, not two, but ten different Splunk knowledge sites. That's right — ten!
When you come to Splunk Lantern, we know that you come looking for interesting use cases and real world product and data ingestion advice written by the best of the best Splunk experts, so you'll still see our content first by default. But if you haven't found what you need, you can choose to include results from any or all of those other nine Splunk content sites and see everything they have to offer without navigating elsewhere.
And speaking of our experts, don't worry — our custom search tags still work. You can click on a tag to get a custom search result page tailored to a specific product, add-on, partner, or contributor. In fact, we've just launched a brand new content partnership with our esteemed SplunkTrust and Splunk MVP members. Members of these programs are star contributors to the Splunk Community and have received special recognition for their passion for helping their peers through their deep knowledge of Splunk software. We're happy to be able to share curated content from these talented groups of experts with Lantern readers.
This great new federated search feature isn't only available on Splunk Lantern. Results from select content sites are also at your fingertips when you run a search on Splunk Docs, Splunk.com, and the Support Portal. On Splunk Docs, you'll even find AI-generated summaries of the key terms and concepts you're searching for, as well as top recommended articles. And if Splunk AI is missing the mark, you can let us know by clicking the thumbs or thumbs down below the summary so we can keep improving our offerings to better get you the information you need.
We hope this new search feature helps you in your quest to apply Splunk solutions to all your crucial business needs and further your organizational progress toward resilience.
