Looking for an excuse to have some fun and show off your Splunk skills? Never fear, BOO is here! Join the BOO crew for the newest, coolest and most extensive version of Boss of Ops and O11y (BOO!). It is all happening in BOOv5, virtually and for absolutely free, on October 18, 2021! Choose from two sessions, the first at 9am PT and the second at 6pm PT.
Louder for those in the back, Boss of Ops and O11y (BOO!) is formerly Boss of the NOC (BOTN). In case you missed it, check out the announcement for more details.
BOO is a gamified, capture-the-flag-esque (CTF) activity where participants leverage the Splunk Observability Cloud — and other resources — to answer a variety of questions about the different types of real-world IT incidents that analysts and engineers face everyday. The Splunk IT Strategists created this event to simulate a day-in-the-life of a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) dealing with IT Operations and Observability and to showcase how Splunk is used to investigate, analyze and monitor real environments.
In BOO, we work hard to create episodes and questions that allow gamers to get hands-on experience in a preconfigured environment and have fun during it all!
You are still assuming the role of Ace, SRE and Splunk extraordinaire. We have big news about Ace this year, though… as Ace, you have accepted a job offer you couldn’t refuse at The Splunk T-Shirt Co. (STSC)! Of course the first thing you think about is all the great t-shirt perks that come with this new position. But with great t-shirt perks, comes great responsibility! You are responsible for keeping the site up and running, dealing with any employee IT issues, monitoring STSC’s hybrid environment and understanding business impact of incidents. We know Shelly Kornbloom is asking a lot of you, but Splunk’s Observability portfolio is your weapon of choice and you will have the help of your team (up to 4 participants) and your coaches!
We have some amazing upgrades to our virtual experience, it’ll be like we are almost there in-person together (just skip showering and sleeping for a day or two for the most authentic Vegas atmosphere).
Here is how we will connect and bring some virtual fun:
We are making it easy on you and will be delivering, in very cool and very virtual ways, our newest version at our annual flagship event on October 18, 2021. We are also hosting two sessions so you can find the most convenient one for you! Register now for Session 1, Monday, 18 October at 9am PT or Session 2, Monday 18 October at 6pm PT.
Who’s in? You, that’s who. Sign up now!
Let’s do it! Register now for the flagship BOO Version 5 virtual event taking place on October 18, 2021 at 9am PT and 6pm PT.
Within the BOO event, you will be directed to join a team, even if you are a single player and team of one. We highly encourage creating a team of up to four with your peers, frenemies, fellow splunkers, and ninjas.
Check your emails leading up the event. You will receive know-before-you-go information and some tips-and-tricks, maybe even some new Easter Eggs (read between the lines)! A final email will be sent right before the kickoff begins with all the links to connect (Splunk Twitch and Discord), to help not sink your Splunk battleship.
We are so excited for this event and hope you are too! Although virtual, we will be sure to have plenty of guest appearances and fun throughout the event!
