Splunk Announces New Integrations With Amazon Kinesis Firehose and Amazon GuardDuty

Strategic Collaboration With AWS Delivers Real-Time Analytics for Customers

AWS re:Invent 2017 and SAN FRANCISCO – November 29, 2017 – Splunk Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLK), first in delivering “aha” moments from machine data, today announced new product integrations with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that span IT, Security, Big Data, and IoT use cases. Integrations with Amazon Kinesis Firehose, the first partner integration of its kind, and Amazon GuardDuty deliver Splunk’s commitment to continuous innovation for customers. Customers are already leveraging the Amazon Kinesis Firehose integration to stream AWS data into Splunk® solutions to manage and enhance their IT and security environments.

“The new integrations make it even easier for Splunk users from IT, marketing, sales, operations and beyond, to access and turn AWS data into answers in Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud,” said Richard Campione, chief product officer, Splunk. “Splunk is committed to providing a holistic set of AWS integrations that scale to meet our customers’ requirements across every use case in IT, Security, Big Data, and IoT. The ultimate goal is to provide our joint customers with end-to-end visibility across their entire infrastructure to empower them to make timely, data-driven business decisions."

Splunk and AWS engineering teams developed a direct integration between Splunk and Amazon Kinesis Firehose to enhance customer experience and insight. The fully managed service allows AWS customers to select Splunk Enterprise as a destination for large scale, streaming data directly from the Amazon Kinesis Firehose console. The integration enhances the scalability and reliability of streaming AWS data into Splunk software; further it streamlines ingestion by pushing data into Splunk in near real time, rather than requiring customers to pull data manually through API calls. The solution is designed to help customers save time, money, and energy previously spent on data collection and, instead, focus on monitoring and troubleshooting their infrastructure, improving their security posture, and creating a differentiated experience for their end users based on real, actionable data. “Splunk’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions across nearly all use cases makes them a valuable member of the AWS Partner Network,” said Roger Barga, general manager of Amazon Kinesis, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “With the one-of-a-kind integration of Amazon Kinesis Firehose and Splunk, customers can create differentiated and enhanced experiences for their end users. Customer success with this - and all AWS-Splunk joint engineering efforts - further validates the value and impact of our collaboration.”

Amazon GuardDuty Integration Delivers Analytics-Driven Security

To further transform security through an analytics-driven approach, Splunk has developed an integration for the newly available Amazon GuardDuty. The integration streamlines ingestion of Amazon GuardDuty security findings from across regions and accounts into the Splunk platform for further analysis. By aggregating and analyzing findings of Amazon GuardDuty, Splunk can provide security teams additional context for early detection, rapid investigations and remediation of potential threats. The Splunk integration, via the Splunk App for AWS, extends the ability of AWS customers' ability to use security analytics to accelerate detection, investigation, and response to potential threats in their AWS environments.
