Splunk Deepens Security Leadership with Appointment of Haiyan Song as Vice President of Security Markets

Song Brings 20 Years of Experience to Cross-Functional Security Team

SAN FRANCISCO - February 24, 2014 - Splunk Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLK), provider of the leading software platform for real-time operational intelligence, today announced the appointment of Haiyan Song as vice president of security markets. With more than 20 years of experience, Song will serve as the leader of a cross-functional security team that includes security experts in product development, product management, marketing, business development, sales and field technical services. Song will be responsible for driving Splunk’s strategy and execution in the fast-growing security market. Song will report to Steve Sommer, chief marketing officer, Splunk.

Previously, Song spent nine years at ArcSight-HP Enterprise Security Products as vice president and general manager, where she was responsible for driving product strategies and business execution. During her time at ArcSight, she led and grew the product team through the company’s IPO and subsequent acquisition by HP. Before joining ArcSight, Song was the vice president of engineering at SenSage, a leading data warehouse software provider. In addition, Song has held previous leadership positions at enterprise software companies and service providers including Escalate, Ketera Technology and Omniva Policy Systems. She started her career at IBM Informix, where she led the development of Informix-Online/Secure, its trusted relational database management system product.

Song studied computer science at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. She holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Florida Atlantic University.
