- About The Role:
- As Cisco Splunk Solutions Engineers, we work closely with account executives, sales leadership, partners, and customers every day. We are responsible for selling value through the products, services, and offerings in our portfolio to customers.
- We DO NOT make cold calls, but we work in lock-step with account executives to understand your customers' market and customize demonstrations that will captivate and encourage the audience. In doing so, you will open the doors to what we call the proof of value (POV) where you can prove these value-adds in a customer’s environment.
- Additionally, you will have the opportunity to help the account teams with pipeline generation, such as helping with demonstration recordings and email responses, which can go a long way to growing revenue. This is a place where we highly encourage collaboration and creativity between the team, to work in the way that best fits their individual goals and personalities.
- Our role entails qualifying opportunities based on technical fit and customer needs. We bring compassion and support for both the customer and our internal team members throughout the sales process. All while continuing to improve ourselves through certifications, training on the competitive landscape, and understanding the market differentiation that makes us the world-class full-stack observability choice.
- In addition to the typical daily activities, there will be opportunities to work booths at outstanding technology events both internal and external to Cisco. This will help you network, establish relationships, and your personal brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Positioning and Strategy:
- Understand and articulate the business and technical value of Splunk AppDynamics, Splunk Observability Cloud, and Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) to prospective clients.
- Develop and deliver tailored presentations and demonstrations that address customer needs and highlight the unique value propositions of these solutions.
- Collaborate with sales teams to align technical positioning with business goals.
- Demonstrations and POCs:
- Conduct in-depth technical demonstrations of Splunk AppDynamics, Splunk Observability Cloud, and Splunk ITSI, showcasing key features and capabilities.
- Lead the planning, setup, and execution of POCs to validate solutions against customer requirements and use cases.
- Provide technical guidance and support during POCs, ensuring successful outcomes and positive customer experiences.
- Technical Expertise and Support:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Observability matters, staying up-to-date with the latest product features, best practices, and industry trends.
- Assist in the creation of technical documentation, including solution designs, architecture diagrams, and deployment guides.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during demonstrations and POCs, leveraging deep product knowledge and problem-solving skills.
- Customer Engagement and Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including IT and business leaders, to understand their needs and drive successful solution adoption.
- Gather and relay customer feedback to product management teams to inform product development and enhancements.
- Participate in industry events, webinars, and workshops to promote the company's solutions and engage with potential customers.
Basic Qualifications:
- Expertise in OpenTelemetry and data collection methodologies to support application performance monitoring.
- Proficiency in Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Cisco AppDynamics, Splunk Observability Cloud, and Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI).
- Strong skills in data visualization techniques and tools to interpret and present data insights effectively.
- Solid understanding of DevOps workflows and the principles of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience turning technical requirements into business value.
- Competence working at OS command lines including Unix, Linux, and Windows command prompts.
- Experience with Unix/Linux/Windows shell scripting.
- Knowledge of cloud computing (at least one vendor).
- Knowledge of basic networking components and concepts, with the ability to troubleshoot issues that may prevent communication between hosts.
- High-level understanding of Application Security (AppSec), including Runtime Application Self-Protection (RASP).
- Familiarity with web servers and common relational databases used in today’s application architectures, with the ability to understand SQL.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Passionate about technical sales and working with customers.
- Bold and self-motivated with a high emotional IQ.
- Ability to work on multiple opportunities and POVs concurrently.
- Highly coachable with a strong desire to improve and grow as a professional.
- Certified in one or more cloud technologies (AWS, Azure or GCP).

OTE Range
For sales roles starting salaries are expressed as On Target Earnings or OTE (OTE = base + on-target incentives in the form of sales commission plans).

On Target Earnings: MXN 1,540,000.00 - 2,117,500.00 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the On Target Earnings (OTE) range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the OTE will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate.
