Engineering Manager, Software Engineering (FrontEnd)- Observability

As applications and systems become more complex and user experience is at high stake, observability – the ability to supervise and understand those systems and how they impact users – becomes one of the biggest challenges for engineering teams. We are looking for expert engineering managers to lead our engineering teams in building and maintaining new capabilities for our outstanding Observability offerings. You will work within a multi-functional team of engineers, designers, product managers, and quality engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and retain top Software Engineering Talent
  • Lead by example, set goals for your team, and establish credibility with the quality of your service.
  • Cultivate an atmosphere of continuous improvement by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor
  • Collaborate with product owners and designers to iterate on the design and implementation of our web application
  • Ensure stability and performance of both backend services as well as client-side offerings that your team builds and owns
  • Identify and drive resolution of roadblocks and issues that impact the success of your team
  • Provide leadership for an impactful Software Engineering Team including:
  • Performance appraisal and feedback
  • Establish and track critical metrics to meet SLA
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Career growth guidance/assistance
  • Facilitation of knowledge and expertise sharing among team members

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field combined with at least 10 years of software development experience
  • 6+ years of direct management experience of highly technical engineers
  • Experience developing and delivering scalable, full-stack multi-tenant SaaS products
  • Passionate about design and user experience
  • Passionate about good engineering practices, new technologies, and improving processes, and a consistent record of mentoring and coaching team members
  • Demonstrated prior success in leading software engineering organizations of 10 or more people
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices including Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have skills:

  • Scrum master experience and/or recent CSM, PMI-ACP, CSP-SM, or equivalent certification.
  • Have experience leading distributed teams on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, ReactJS and/or Angular.
  • Extensive knowledge and production programming experience in at least one of Java/C++/Python
  • Experience in backend web/API frameworks and/or distributed systems.

Note:

Base Pay Range

India

Base Pay: INR 3,200,000.00 - 4,400,000.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
