Rehan Mulla has had what can only be described as an adventure during his more than ten years at Splunk. During that time, he’s been able to work on over fifteen Splunk products across various technologies and domains, lead the launch of several of those products, and has three patents (and counting).
“In the intricate dance of bytes and bits, my purpose is found in our solutions that interpret the stream of everlasting data to bring order to chaos.”
When describing himself, Rehan says he’s “a bit like a Splunk dashboard come to life – full of data points that tell a story.” He’s a car enthusiast who is currently raising a toddler (“a spirited little individual with a mind of her own, teaching me new perspectives every day”). His personal philosophy is "do good, feel good," which he uses to guide all his actions, both personal and professional.
Today, Rehan is a Senior Engineering Leader of Observability & AI Ops products, working to enhance tools that monitor, troubleshoot, and secure complex systems. His team’s work is an integral part of achieving Splunk’s purpose to build a safer, more resilient digital world. Rehan believes that, “In today's market, where digital transformation accelerates at breakneck speed, robust observability isn't just a trend; it's a linchpin for resilience. We enable businesses to anticipate disruptions, automate responses, and maintain uptime.”
And of course, they couldn’t do all of this important work without incorporating the latest and greatest technology. “By integrating AI and machine learning, we're pushing the envelope of proactive incident management, ensuring that Splunk remains synonymous with unwavering digital resilience in an ever-evolving technological landscape.”
“Observability isn't just about keeping systems running; it's a commitment to digital resilience, turning raw data into wisdom, and ensuring that our digital existence remains robust against the relentless tide of change.”
What’s kept Rehan excited about his work is the greater purpose his work achieves. It won’t be surprising, then, that he waxed poetic when we talked about the impact of his work: “In the intricate dance of bytes and bits, my purpose is found in our solutions that interpret the stream of everlasting data to bring order to chaos. Each alert we fire, every anomaly we detect, and every single outage we predict speaks to the heart of our mission at Splunk: to build a safer and more resilient digital world. Observability isn't just about keeping systems running; it's a commitment to digital resilience, turning raw data into wisdom, and ensuring that our digital existence remains robust against the relentless tide of change.”
Rehan has remained at Splunk for over a decade, driven by opportunities for career growth and a desire to make a lasting impact on the industry. His journey began with the launch of Splunk IT Service Intelligence, but he has since evolved into a leadership role, overseeing multiple engineering teams responsible for a diverse portfolio of Observability and AI Ops products that power digital infrastructure and applications for some of the largest global corporations. Throughout that journey, Rehan has been able to explore different technical concepts, push boundaries, and work directly with customers to understand and enhance the impact of our products in the AI Ops and Observability space. “I've gained a broad spectrum of knowledge and expertise. A key highlight of my tenure is leading the development of a unified platform for Observability and Security.”
On top of that, he’s been able to pursue another degree to further his career. Rehan started at Splunk with a master of science degree, and has since gathered several Splunk certifications, AI and machine learning expertise, and an MBA. “To complement my technical insights, my mentors at Splunk encouraged me to pursue an Executive MBA, enhancing my strategic thinking and leadership skills, and shaping me into a well-rounded professional. This blend of technical and business acumen positions me at the forefront of technological evolution and innovation.”
At Splunk, we’re building the future for leading businesses and for humanity. But we couldn’t do it without our mighty crew of curious, fearless, and down-to-earth Splunkers that bring their big ideas, unique quirks, dog pics, and dad jokes to work every day. We’re lucky to have awesome Splunkers like Rehan who are so passionate about our purpose and customers. And we love that we're able to showcase some of the million data points that make all of us, us.
